Curious Kids Child Care Information

Curious Kids is a licensed child care program offering structured activities in a safe and caring environment. Child care is open to all children in the community from ages 6 weeks through middle school.  Meals and snacks are provided as well as transportation to and from school for school-aged children enrolled in Portage Elementary Schools. Our West Milham site is open year round and houses Michigan’s largest single-site child care center.

Curious Kids Child Care is located in the Community Education Center at 1010 West Milham (across from the Post Office at Constitution). We offer two satellite sites located in Woodland and Waylee Elementary schools in addition to our main site at West Milham.

 

CENTER HOURS:
West Milham hours - 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Moorsbridge and Woodland sites are open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

New this fall - We have added sites at Amberly, Angling Road and Lake Center.

 

Our West Milham site offers the following services:

INFANT/TODDLER - This program offers quality child care for children 6 weeks to 24 momths. Curious Kids offers a safe atmosphere and warm staff to care for your child. Care is available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Daily records are kept for parents to take home each evening.

  

TRANSITION PROGRAM - This program offers quality child care for children at least 24 months who have not completed toilet training. The staff will work with the children and parents to completely toilet train the children at which time they will move up to the Preschool Age Child Care program. Three payment plan options are available to accommodate different schedules. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

  

PRESCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE (PACC) - This program is designed to care for children who are at least 36 months in age and potty trained. The program provides a balance between socialization and structured activities. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, year round. Various payment plans are available depending on the number of hours of service. All plans include meals and snacks.

DISCOVERGARTEN is offered to students attending Young Fives/Kindergarten.  Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. During the school year, Portage Public Schools Transportation busses PPS students to and from Curious Kids and his/her school.

 

SCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE (SACC) - This program is for school age children (First Grade through Middle School). Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. During the school year PPS Transportation busses children in the Portage Public School system to and from the Curious Kids program and his/her appropriate school. Learning activities and social experiences are built into the daily operation. Various payment plans are available depending on the number of hours of service. All plans include meals and snacks.

Curious Kids at Amberly, Angling Road, Lake Center, Moorsbridge and Woodland Elementary's offer child care for children attending Young Fives/Kindergarten through 5th grade.

CURIOUS KIDS PRESCHOOL - The Curious Kids Preschool allows your child to engage in social and creative learning experiences before beginning their formal education at the kindergarten level. The program follows the Portage Public Schools calendar and is available to 3 and 4-year-old children who are potty trained. Students attend a 1/2 day program either in the morning or the afternoon. Parents of 4-year-old children may enroll their child in a 2-day, 3-day, or 5- day a week program. Parents of 3-year-old children may enroll their child in a 2-day a week program. Our SUMMER ACADEMY PROGRAM offers Fun-tastic activities throughout the summer for school-aged children. From on-site art classes to field trips offering kayaking, ball games and water parks… there is something fun for everyone!
